Cellophane Lolly Bags

Have you noticed the cute little lolly bags on Page 23 of the Seasonal Catalogue?  They were one of the first things I noticed when I first saw the catalogue.  And of course I wanted to make my own.  

I don't know what sort of lollies they used, but as we have lots of Skittles in house they were what I used first. I made up a few bags, but this is the only one still intact.  Shame I didn't photograph them altogether.

Also made up a few bags using pastel coloured Menthos.  They do fit in the bags but have to lie upright rather than stacked flat.  

One of my friends made these bags up for her school class using jelly beans.  She says she had to buy lots of bags to get enough colours as each bag takes 12 jelly beans.  I think I used 21 or 22 Skittles per bag and about 8 Menthos. 

 

 

 Don't you love all the colours lined up together.  From what I heard the kids enjoyed them as an Easter treat.  Didn't have treats like that when I went to school.

Kaitlin's birthday card

Saturday night while I was lying in bed I realised I hadn't made my daughter a card for her birthday the next day.  How bad am I?  I had been "playing" in my room most of the day on other projects but it didn't even occur to me that I had to make one for her.  So, around 10.00 last night I had to make a quick one.

First of all, it had to be green, Kaitlin's favourite colour.   And secondly, it had to be quick and easy, but not look like I had just pulled it together in a rush.  

This is what came together. 

  

Not the nicest one ever made, but I think the bows made it OK.  

Mother of the year award?  I think not! 

A wedding envelope

Here's something that I wish I could say I made, but it was actually done by Jackie, one of my stamping friends, who is incredibly talented and clever and should actually be teaching instead of coming to my classes.  

She is off to a wedding and you know how lately the bride and groom ask for money instead of a present, well this is the envelope to place in the wishing well.  

As with most things this looks soooo much better in real life and the photo doesn't really show all the detail.  The creamy cardstock is all shimmery and sparkly and the flourishes are just so delicate.  There are some products from the Artisan Embellishment Kit and the heart embossing folder border from Stampin Up and it all looks so beautiful.  

Wouldn't you just love to see the card she makes if this is just the envelope. 

Anyone for tea

I was playing around with the Paper Doilies recently and thought it might look nice to set the table with some of the images from the Morning Cup stamp set.  They are a little fiddly to cut out so to make them a bit stronger I have coated them in Glossy Accents.  

Looks a little bare so will keep fiddling with it for a while.  

The card is made with Regal Rose cardstock and ink.  If you love this colour remember to order it soon cause it will soon be gone and stocks are running low. 
 

Male birthday card

Do you have some months when there are hardly any birthdays, and then other months when there seems to be one every week?   February is definitely the biggest birthday month for me but April is not far behind.  Strangly they are the months that my children are born in, not sure what that means.  

I guess most of us struggle with teenage male cards.  Even buying a store bought (horror!!) card can sometimes be hard too.  

I'm not sure that this one will be well received by its recipient, but my son tells me he likes mini's so that's the way we went.  

The car is from a stamp set called Sentimental Journey from the  December 2010 Summer Mini catalogue.  You know how when you get together with your crafty friends you stamp lots of images that you are going to make something with one day.  Guess what, one day came.  

The flags look a little bare but I really couldn't figure out anything to put on them.  A bit late now, but any suggestions?  

Cake shop birthday

Another Pinterest idea I have been wanting to try is a card with a Word Window punch awning.  Now as I don't actually have Birthday Bakery set which came out as a Hostess set in 2010-2011 the images have been photocopied, so once again they aren't the best quality.  

The outside photo is truer in colour; Regal Rose on the awning and Pretty in Pink on the card.  I sponged one of SU's Paper Doilies to create the lovely lacy effect under the "window" - it looks quite pretty so will do this again on another card. 

Quick and Easy card

Well I seem to be hooked on Pinterest at the moment and for some reason I now have somone "following" me over there.  Not sure why - I haven't actually put anything on, just pinned the cards I like.  Quite strange that they follow me and not the person whose card I liked.  Anyway.  But there are some great cardmakers out there. 

I saw this card made by Linda from Crafty Distraction blogspot and as I actually had the same set I decided to CASE her idea.  I even used the same colours; Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and Old Olive.

The card was masked with post it notes and stamped using the Silhouette Sentiments set in different colours and then while the post it notes are still in place it has been sponged with Old Olive.  Then a line of paper piercing and a sentiment stamped and it was finished.  It really is a very simple but effective card. 

Happy Birthday to my Brother in Law

This is the birthday card for my brother in law whose birthday is today.  He and my sister are currently on holiday (again) somewhere down the coast and this is the card he will get when he returns home.  

And the inside

Very similar to one made last week but this time I used some eyelets to read through the ribbon.  My B-I-L is a very fit and active man who lives by the beach and is quite boaty, hence the nautical theme.  

Enjoy your travels and happy birthday.  Your card will be sitting in your letter box when you get home.

You may have heard about this one before.  America has had it for a while, but MDS has finally reached Australia.  I must confess I don't know much about it yet but plan to change that soon.  If you want to have a try before you buy, it is available for a 30 day free trial for a short time. Male birthday

This is another one for the men in your life.  It's a combination of The Open Sea and Clockworks.  I think by now you know that I like shading around the edges and don't mind a little cutting out.  Done in Black, Grey and White. 

 

You're a blast

I had another go at a Spinner card on the weekend - this time one that goes all the way around.  The colour of the card is Night of Navy, which is a little hard to photograph, or for me anyway.   There is a "trough" all around the centre that the rocket is supposed to glide around but when I sprayed shimmer all over the card it slightly warped it so the rocket has a little trouble getting around the world. Nice idea though. 

A black and white trifold

This is another style of card I had to have a try of.  I wrote down all the measurements but forgot to save the link, so thank you whoever you are for the idea.  

The card is called a double trifold card or a hinged card and is a bit fiddly getting all the measurements cut out, but very easy after that.  Basically it is two separate cards that join into one.  

I wanted to use black and white cause I think they look elegant, but when finished it needed just a touch of colour, hence the green leaf.  I love the outside panel and the inside back panel, but I don't think the middle bit is "right".  Anyway, here it is, see what you think.  

I am going to have another go at the inside with something less cluttered, maybe even a different colour, and will let you see again.
