Another card in a box

This is another card in a box made recently for a friend of my sister who is shortly to turn 60.  Not sure about you, but I don't really like putting ages on cards for people over about the age of 15, I guess it just makes me think how old we are all getting, so this box was filled with flowers instead.  The flowers are from Fabulous Florets and Morning Meadow stamp sets, and the colours used were Limeade, Wisteria, Calypso and Summer Sun.  Once again I have put in my three bars across the box cause I just think it fills the space up better. 

I shared these card in a boxes with everyone at the class a couple of weeks ago now and most of them have had a go at making their own creations.  If only I could get to see them all. 

Triple Time Stamping

Now if you are like me and trawl the internet looking at other people's cards you will probably have seen lots of cards made using this technique, and possibly even a card that looks very similar to this.   Yes, I did copy her card pretty much the same, so much so that I had to order a stamp set especially for the leaf.  I tried to use leaves or grasses that I owned, but nothing looked as good as Sandi's card.  The original card was made by Sandi MacIver and here is a link to her website. 

Our version didn't use the extra colour flower of blue and we added a ribbon instead of a sentiment, but still it's very similar.  

Triple time stamping is where you cut out all the layers you need (and you do use a lot of cardstock with this one) and then you partly stick the white layers together and then stamp all three layers in one go.  Some of the images get a little blurred on the edges, especially the bottom layer, but most of this gets covered up with the, in this case, Crumb Cake matt layer.  After stamping is finished you just undo the white layers, add in the matt layers and then tizzy it up with sentiment, bling or ribbon.  Another clever technique to try.  

Thinking of you card

Had to make a couple of get well cards recently and thought I would try out some of the new in colours.  Coastal Cabana is going to be my new favourite colour I think.  It's a beautiful restful colour and reminds me of summery days, something that's in short supply lately.  Have combined this card with Strawberry Slush and Fabulous Florets stamp set.

Add a couple of pearls, and finished. 

My sisters birthday

Today is one of my sister's birthdays and this is the card I made very quickly for her.  It had to be quick to get it in the mail.  Normally I take a little more time to personalise birthday cards especially for the recipient, but on Sunday everyone wanted me to do something for them which shortened my time in the craft room.  So apologies for the lack of pizzazz.  

You probably noticed too that it seems slightly buckled.  That's because I sprayed the white cardstock with shimmer to make it sparkle and it warped.  Nothing I could do at that stage but send it off as is.  But Happy Birthday Robyn.  She is getting a big shot today and is so looking forward to it.  

And this is a photo of the 2nd ornament wreath I made on Saturday.  Marina Mist and Lucky Limeade with silver snowflake and shimmered all over.  Pretty!

 

Sunshine at last

Finally we had a bit of full sunshine today, hopefully that means the rain and cold will be absent for a while.

Another borrowed stamp set here.  This card uses the leaves from Growing Green and flowers from Fabulous Florets.  
 

Don't think this one rates as one of my favourites, but I have always liked the fern from this set.  I wish it were a solid image though instead of outlined, would make it easier to use. 

Fabulous Florets

Another set that I will miss after the Summer mini catalogue ends at the end of the month is the Fabulous Florets set.  Two very good friends bought this set for me as a birthday present, and I have used it so many times.  In my opinion, the cards in the catalogue don't do this set justice, so hopefully some of these will make you think differently.  

The flowers in the top three cards have been stamped in VersaMark, then embossed with clear embossing powder and shaded with a sponge.

Square Punch

The saying goes "When you're on a good thing, stick to it" and I guess I must agree with that too.  Squares on a card always looks good, and with a punch to keep all those squares alike it couldn't get much easier. 

The first card is actually done in Melon Mambo, not that you could guess that from the colour in the photo.  The image has been stamped in Versa Mark and then embossed in white powder.  Embossing on black cardstock isn't easy, but it's well worth the effort.  

The second card Calypso Coral cardstock, and the final card a combination of Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade (my current favourite) and Early Expresso.  I wonder who comes up with the names, and how long it takes them?
